From Portland, Maine, EnIaM (pronounced IN-I-am) is a spell for love and revolution, exploring themes of anti-capitalism and anti-colonialism. EnIaM is cursed, blessed, insanity, reality and hood-structured spontaneity. A refreshingly original blend of moody rhodes tones, hard hitting synth-grooves, and jazz drums. Led by vocalists Marlan Hinnant and Iris Caj, EN-I-AM is fuel for resistance and bends free worlds into existence.

EnIaM is:

Marlan Hinnant- Vocals, Synth, Rhodes, Writing, Production

Iris Caj- Vocals, Synth, Writing, Production

Herb Winters- Guitar

Elliot Jacobs- Drums

Kedaar- Keys, Visuals, Guitar, Sounds, Production. [RIP to our beloved best friend, a legend in the electronic music scene, and a respected alumni and staff member of Berklee School of Music. Your loss is forever felt. We came together through diverse musical journeys, resisting the urge to unite until it couldn’t be ignored any longer. Together, we create magic.]

EnIaM

What I say I am, what I do I am, what I believe I am.

A call to positive change through re-association in a dissociative world.

PRESS

The five-piece ENiAM out of Portland, Maine packed plenty of soul into the sole set of the night. Pay no attention to the man behind the silver curtain! Fox masks and showers of tinsel were the earthly compromises of a band with planetary ambitions. You know you’re making an impression as a band when the staff sneaks out of the kitchen to take a peek.
- HUMP DAY NEWS
Their sound is a wild mix of Funk, Jazz, Hip-hop, Rock and Psychedelic moods. “Up” is the digital debut from ENiAM, released worldwide to all major streaming services on February 16, 2021. The 8:01 jam grooves on a chill downtempo rhythm. Performed live in the studio, the track has a natural, organic feel. The seasoned and highly trained quartet of bass, drums, keys and guitar flow together in an easy funk. Meanwhile, vocalist and bandleader Marlan “Rev Ruger” Hinnant delivers a visual, poetic narrative.
-The Static Dive
The song, which was recorded over a year ago features live music giving it an eccentric rock edge. This gives the song the permissibility to explore various genres and gain influences from their creative essences. The song thematically resonates with the current social structure which impacts our mental health significantly. ENiAM utilizes various strains of emotions, genres, and mental states in the perspective of their music. ‘UP’ is a beautiful amalgamation of various elements that come together into a blissful sundry of mixed emotions and musical content.

BRATTLEBORO—A British political and cultural movement that emerged in the mid-70s and lasted a half-dozen years has been revived across the pond in Vermont. It’s mission: to discourage young people from embracing racism. Rock Against Racism Vermont was formed by three visual artists in the Wilmington, Vt. area, including John Langran of Great Britain. The group organized a show on Sunday, April 18, at the Third Eye Collective space on Flat St. featuring ENiAM, a Portland, Maine-based band. The band describes their hard-to-pigeonhole sound as a collage of “genres, emotions, insanity and reality.”
